Begun Wendesday:
Friend Robbie and I headed to Southpoint Cinemas Tuesday for a movie afternoon to see “Eat, Pray, Love.” Since reading the book three years ago Robbie had traveled to India and brought back prayer beads which we wore to the movie. As the book vs. movie debate usually goes I thought the movie was a good take; loved the costumes that Julia Roberts wore. And Julia was the perfect pick, who else could have played Elizabeth Gilbert? The camera work bothered me at times and I wished more food had been shown, the Italian segment had lots of food but the Indian segment neglected that aspect. Looking back I can remember saying some of the same lines at different points in my life but fortunately I did not have to go to the other end of the world to get my life started.

Wanted sister Jan to join us for the movie but she managed to get a bad case of poison ivy, just at the peak of the summer heat and is at home recovering and taking cool baths. Bummer. Needed to calm down after an exciting day, so I put my feet up to finish Inspector Brunetti's “Through the Glass Darkly.” Had begun the book over the weekend quite curious about the story set on the island of Murano. Hello, it's Venice! Been there, studied glass making and glass history, perhaps that's why these mysteries appeal to me so much.
Wednesday is ‘domestic day,’ that time when the linens, laundry, cooking and general pick-up gets done BEFORE the Molly Maids come on Friday. Early in the a.m. I did clothes pressing as we are invited to a friend’s house for cake and ice cream tomorrow evening (her hubby’s birthday). What do you wear in the middle of August as casual when the humidity is telling you “take it all off!” After that put together a pot of sausages and cabbage for DH's dinner and then went to the library. Leaving the library an hour later my morning-zoompht suddenly fell flat - got home just in time to crash and sleep for over an hour. What happened?
Catch up to Friday:
Can I be proud of myself....I had about three bites of the birthday cake last night and passed it on to DH who was also supremely disciplined. We knew that too much sugar would make for a sleepless night and we have an important morning meeting today. Meanwhile to help me fall asleep last night I kept reading another Inspector Brunetti book - this one "Suffer Little Children." I love these books so much, DH says I do not 'read' them but 'inhale' them in rapid time. There will be and end to these stories but I pray for a few more before the summer is over.
Shag lesson with Bruce Thursday showed much improvement - we had twisted the "Triple Basic" somewhat but Bruce actually liked what we had done to the figure. Now we are on to Side Passes and the Texas Tommy in EC Swing. Don't ask. The Beach Music Weekend at the Grove Park Inn is only a couple of weeks away and we need more practice.
What's for dinner tonight? Have no idea. Have a busy day and will address that issue much later. stay tuned, bb
