Googles & Custom Candy

A lazy morning turned out to be productive after all. One of my confusions (of many), was how to link a .pdf file to this blog. Seems that is pretty near impossible.

But I found a Google Help file from Dutt (?) about the process. First you generate a Googlepage, then upload your .pdf file to that page; then link the address to your blog and finally, the reader can click on the link to open the .pdf. Easy, no? First I have to thank Dutt and second ask the resident Google Geni IF there can be a simpler way....this only took me three-four hours but then who's counting?

The reason for this effort? I found an idea for a Valentine favor to give to the ballroom dance couples next week. A candy bar wrapper - a custom wrap designed by....me. Check out the Activity Center at Hewlitt Packard. Once I found their candy bar example I knew I could do a more personalized wrap for my students. The dimensions [17 cm wide x 22.5 cm long] fit one 5 oz. Giant Nestle Crunch Bar. The size chosen because most candy bars have a sole printed-mylar wrapper instead of the outer wrap. Created in CorelDraw12, then converted to .pdf, the question was: how to share my layout with other friends??

Go to my new Google pages and click on 'candy wrapper2' and you will see what I have wrought. And while printing, trimming and wrapping the bars, I did not eat one bite. Maybe later. My big dinner for Thursday's Valentine celebration will be a Grand Mariner Souffle, same as I made for Christmas eve. Dear Hubby loved it so much, why not do it again?

Next project up. I have copied and enlarged the foot patterns of the Swing Trot from the Fred Astaire Dance Book (see earlier blog), and will now try to create an instruction page for the class on doing a dance-step we have never done before. The step was created by Astaire for the 1949 film The Barkleys of Broadway. Just ordered the Netflix of the film to watch Fred in action and will show the DVD at the studio next week. Then I need to create a .pdf file of the instruction to E-mail the students. IF this works [??], we will have a step that can fit into either the Swing or the Fox Trot dance. Foxy, no?

I do wonder if this was Fred or Hermes Pan's idea as Pan was the choreographer without whom Fred would not have been Fred Astaire. But that's another story.
