JANUARY SNOW DAY

Isn't this scene beautiful?

Snow waited until the very end of January to find Chapel Hill. Our walkway has become a study in brown, greys and shadow whites.
Thankfully we spent considerable time in the fall blowing leaves so the snow makes an even, continous layer.

DH fears that he will not get out of the house so blowing the driveway becomes a priority.
Of course a good deal of our drive is an uphill push getting DH further into the lane but closer to his goal: the mailbox. No use in telling him there is no where to go, everything in the Triangle is either closed or on emergency call only. Yes I helped by shoveling the edges the blower missed but after getting a workout felt a break was much deserved.

My second job was to make hot cocoa and check the crockpot. After dinner last evening I browned a half pound of ground turkey, onion and added Boca crumbles to mix with a bag of frozen soup vegetables, canned tomatoes and let cook for four hours. About 8:30 this morning the crockpot was turned on again and is just getting to that aromatic stage where the kitchen is full of a wonderful, hopeful, hot soup smell. Is there anyone who is NOT making soup today?

These pictures were taken on "raw" setting. After my Photoshop class last weekend I now shoot in raw and format the pictures on the computer. Working in Adobe photoshop I adjust the image size, resolution and save in desired format; these are all .jpg. I must investigate getting the upgrade from CS2 to CS4. Had I been paying more attention I might have noticed CS3, but too late for that now.

Settling into a home bound snow-day there are a few sewing projects waiting for attention; a tea cozy for my sister and one for my neice; some touches on the Oregon project; and a continued effort to stitch all the crumb-scrap fabrics into new patches. The flow of creativity is boundless.
