Recently, just after Apple announced the iPhone 4s, the earlier generation iPhone4 was reduced in price so DH bought me one the older model. Just the beginning of a whole new learning curve. Love the phone, love the messages and photos BUT - getting the settings so I can download to Photoshop and edit pix was not easy. Then DH resets my computer to HIS google account to make things easier (for him) and voila - I could not get to my blog page. After some confusion, a bit of yelling (little bit of cursing), here I am again, back to my own gmail account and login. Such a conversion.
Today's message: Cuban Picadillo makes a great supper. As it happens last week for the Thursday dance class, I was the 'guest teacher' for a ChaCha demo. For that purpose handouts were created with a brief history of the invention of the dance in Cuba, a couple of ChaCha line dances and recipes for Picadillo and Cuba Libres.
Everyone enjoyed the dancing, loved the idea of a party recipe and drink and then asked it I had made it (?). Of course, well some time back using a recipe printed with Rita Moreno's permission (not that I could find again). So I Googled and found this: Rita Moreno's Picadillo recipe. Yes, it really is a Cuban dish usually served over rice but I put it on lettuce for a healthier meal.
Plating the tasty meat mix with romaine leaves, carrot sticks and radishes made for a festive dinner. To eat you spoon the mix onto a lettuce leaf, add arugula or cilantro and enjoy. Reminds me of the "Pork Soon" that we used to enjoy at Pig Heaven in NYC.
Of course with all this technology up-hill learning curve I discovered a few new things too. Like Mini Monet, a terrific photo app.
Taking a photo of the fall color from my window, importing to Mini Monet and with adjustments in brush size, color and adding a frame, I created a mini-masterpiece.
These are fun effects to add to candid shots and look - well not unlike a Monet! As my step-daughter JWK says: So freaking cool!
Update on the home front: still showing the house, no offers yet. We just need one but where that guy is we are not sure. Back to the gym, getting my blood pressure under control with another new iPhone app.
Maybe. bbf
