More Recent Color Works

Famille Rose by Aynsley
Maybe I am bragging a little too much but this is a scheme that's been in the works for more than thirty years.  The Aynsley china pattern "Famille Rose" was selected in another marriage and moved, protected, stored and handled delicately for decades. I kid you not.

Even in my current marriage I have saved and hoped to use it to advantage but occasions for such rarely arise. A few items have been lost to breakage over the years but they have rested in my dining room amoire for more than ten years. Until this year.

Doing the diamond string-piecing over dryer sheets (which I have discussed here ad naseum),  this was the effort put forth to produce the Thanksgiving table for 2011.  If I will ever get to do this again is doubtful. What the future in our villa at the CCRC holds is still a mystery. BUT - this year I not only produced a tablescape but also a scrapbook page of photos of the production.
Blue & Orange scheme for Thanksgiving 2011
Yes I am proud of the result.  And I must thank my mother who assisted with laying down the center orange strips for me to add the remaining color strips. And to my sister Jan who gave me four days of concentrated sewing in her mountain house in late September. This has been a stressful year but without their understanding this dinner would never have happened. This one has been a dinner to remember.
