Taking Jimmy Buffett's recommendations, I went looking for cd's today. Found Milton Nascimento's TXAI, an album produced in support of the Alliance for the People of the Forest UNI - Union of Indigenous Nations of Rubber Tappers (?). I do not know what that means but I'm anxious to hear the music.
Meantime, I found Bossacucanova & Roberto Menescal's BRASILIDADE, the cd I am listening to now. Fabulous for Merengué and Mambo dancing. Strong downbeat and consistent rhythm. Got to take it to Ballroom class on Wednesday. Or it could be used for the dancerCIZE class - rock-step, step; rock-step, step, and so on.
And picked out ONE more - COMPACT JAZZ with Miles Davis, featuring among others Charlie Parker and John Coltrane. Never can have too much Davis for driving out and about the town.
YOGA with Pat this morning was just what I needed. Missed last week and that always makes me stiff for the next session. One thing I have just discovered on Podcasts: there are 20 minute Yoga sessions on Yogadownload.com. You can take yoga anywhere with your iPOD, getting mini rejuvenating sessions during the week. This appeals to me because I can only schedule yoga on Monday mornings. The dance classes and aquafitness take up the rest of the week. Haven't tried it yet - but a couple of days from now, as the current workout wears down I will a mid-week-yoga-up-load.
Yes, I finished EAT,PRAY,LOVE. Enough already. Back to Jimmy Buffett and Salty Piece of Land and some exotic island fantasy that has nothing to do with my life. I await a callback from the travel agent to finalize the booking on our Western Caribbean cruise at the beginning of January. The anticipation is just beginning to dawn on me, we have 6 cabins booking this year. That five other couples, plus Ed and me. We will be dancing morning, afternoon and night, getting our ballroom technique in tip-top shape. What a great getaway for a mid-winter vacation. Ed reminds me that I was never big on cruising until we did the first dance cruise. Watching water go by does not tap my inner spirit but dancing at sea is fun and tremendous exercise.
Back to Jimmy Buffett and the cd's. More to listen to this afternoon.
