Earthquake on East Coast

Where were you when the earthquake hit on Tuesday?  Scary wasn't it?

As it happened I was waiting at the doctor's office, at a few minutes before 2 p.m., sitting in the lobby near a window wall. For some reason the louvered blinds began to vibrate, sort of a low hum which got louder and louder. My chair was vibrating at the sound of a roaring train coming down the hallway. I knew it could not be a jet plane but a nearby building was under construction and maybe something was working there (?). Perhaps a giant cement truck pulling tons of weight? How much weight could make that much noise?

Just as quickly as it got worrisome, it was over. I went back to reading before hearing the reception gals saying we just had an earthquake. A real one, centered near Richmond, VA and felt as far as South Carolina. Really! Now I know what an earthquake feels like - and now that I know, cannot say I would like to do it again.
Later at home DH said he "did not feel a thing, must have stopped on the north side of town, nothing here."  Right and it didn't happen in Fayetteville or South Carolina. He gets so focused he does not hear the phone ring!

Jeopardy did it again - one of those trick "Final Jeopardy" questions that everybody missed. What was the smallest of the ancient wonders that was later moved? Well for sure it was not the Great Pyramid or the Colosseum of Rome. The correct answer: The Statue of Zeus at Olympia. Who knew?
See:  Seven_Wonders_of_the_Ancient_World . Turns out the Colosseum of Rome did not make the list.

And one last item I promised to share a recent recipe find. Chef Dan Eaton offers tasty tidbits daily on Time-Warner's local news channel.
Arugula salad with peaches, tomatoes, bacon, Gorgonzola croutons,  has been a real hit. Arugula-salad-with-peaches--tomatoes--bacon--gorgonzola-croutons . Made with twice, once with and once without the bacon.  Great either way.

Gluten-free vegetarian lasagna  looks good also but I have a hard time sneaking zucchini into DH's dinner.  Gluten-free-vegetarian-lasagna, or check out Cooking_at_Home where you will find many great recipes listed.

And how was my day?
Did a kick-ass Aquacise class with UNC's Patti (aka 'Killer'), and was ready to head out shopping when we got a call for a house showing at 2:00 p.m. Quick, find DH, head home begin the set up for showing, get my car packed for being out (cold water, snack, shopping lists) and get out of the house. Since I had to be out for over two hours, headed west to the new Tanger Outlet mall in Mebane, did some shopping and ended at My Secret Closet - a wonder of a consignment shop. Yes, I bought stuff.  My great joy: a pair of simple, long silver earrings to wear shagging.  DH was not impressed - said they looked too primitive.  Ha, just what I wanted.  Later....bb
