North Carolina's Geophysical Changes

North Carolina is experiencing an historic week; an earthquake and hurricane within a few days of each other. We definitely felt the earthquake but the Outer Banks will get the brunt of Irene, now rated a catagory 3 storm. My main worry is that I have a reservation for the quilt retreat the second weekend of November at the Blockade Runner on Wrightsville Beach and I just hope the hotel is still there. See Blockade Runner

Here at home DH is doing the last minute batten-down and storing small items for anticipated wind damage and working so that clean up can be done quickly to get the house back into realtor-showing-mode. We alternate between multiple showings and no showings and so far have still not had an offer. Bummer.

My pre-occupation has been less with the storm (chicken soup working in the crock pot), but more with the opportunity to pull the sewing machine out, hem some slacks and get back to patching while the coming storm dampens the traffic of home buyers. DH hubby is very nervous that we are getting to Labor Day without an offer; and I am nervous that someone will make an offer. Try as I may to be realistic about moving to a retirement village, I am just not there yet. When can I have my sewing room back?

This morning we have already practiced an hour on West Coast Swing and Shag, though we ended our summer lessons last week we still have to practice to reform our old habits into new habits. Next week the SeymourCenter's Afternoon Ballroom will miss dance instructor Bruce who is taking a week off, so guess who gets to be the substitute DJ?  Me of course. Got the sound dock playing now to charge the battery and check out the ballroom playlists for next Monday (August 29). Then we will miss the Monday holiday day and get back to regular weekly dancing on September 12.  That works since "Ladies Who Love to Dance" on Thursdays also ended the summer session and begins again on September 15 for the fall OLLI term.

And there is good news from my annual physical checkup this week. The results of my bone-density test show that all the weight resistance work I have done and the calcium supplements have paid off. The doctor says I do not need to take the supplements anymore. Hooray - one less prescription to take and one less expense on Medicare RX.
Til the storm subsides....bb
